Additional Information
This video download walks you through step by step troubleshooting and maintaining, first a gas water heater that's not making any hot water and then an electric heater that's producing only a little hot water. You're shown the tools to use and why - tricks for making stubborn parts behave - what the safety concerns are and how to stay safe working with gas and electricity along with what happens when things get out of hand. You'll learn just how to look at a water heater to discover clues about it's past and what it's been doing or not. Finally you'll be shown ideas from history that could make heaters safer and more efficient than they are now and are best not forgotten.
Plumber lingo is turned into plain English and you're taught as an apprentice might be; shown real world situations and how to deal with them.
TESTIMONIALS
As a Home Performance Professional and Home Energy Auditor I was thrilled when I discovered Larry Weingarten and his vast knowledge of water heaters. I often refer to his book "The Water Heater Workbook" when I am writing reports for homeowners and want to get the facts right about their water heater and any potential problems. I, also, have watched his "Working With Your Water Heater Troubleshooting" video numerous times. His explanations are clear. The video footage allows me to see the various parts of the water heater he is troubleshooting, what tools to use and how to maneuver them. I'm very pleased to have been able to add this video to my library of resources.

It's probably another form of mental illness, but I found Larry Weingarten's water heater DVD and book very exciting. It was like watching Mr. Rogers in a neighborhood of water heaters. With cool tools instead of the red sweater and slippers. Cats instead of puppets. It seems to me that there are millions of owners of water heaters out there who want this, but just don't know it yet. It isn't sexy. It isn't digital. And you can't even "see" the benefits or show them off. And not enough people get excited about saving money down the line.
P.S. I think I've put the finger on why "Working" is so much fun. It's like Damon Runyon Theater, with heating instead of horse racing.
